Volunteers Collect Bags of Litter Across Wimborne Minster in Community Clean Up

Volunteers from Harold G Walker Solicitors spent Saturday morning carrying out a community litter pick across Wimborne Minster, helping to keep the town’s streets, green spaces and riverside paths clean and welcoming.

Five teams set out across different parts of the town, covering a wide area including the town centre around The Square and High Street, the surroundings of Wimborne Minster and Minster Green, riverside paths near Crown Mead and the River Allen, as well as surrounding streets and green spaces including Wimborne Recreation Ground.
In just a few hours, the volunteers collected numerous bags of litter. The teams found large numbers of cigarette butts, fast food packaging, crisp packets and drinks containers. Among the more unusual items were discarded glasses and even unidentified pills, highlighting the importance of regular clean up efforts.
The initiative received support from Wimborne Minster Town Council, Dorset Council, and the local environmental group Wimborne War on Waste, whose ongoing efforts to reduce litter and promote recycling across the town continue to make a big impact.
Members of the public stopped to thank the volunteers while they were working across the town, showing the strong sense of pride people have in keeping Wimborne Minster clean.
The volunteers hope the clean up will encourage greater awareness about littering, particularly the impact of cigarette butts and discarded food packaging, and remind everyone that small actions—such as using bins and supporting local environmental initiatives—can make a real difference in protecting shared spaces across Wimborne Minster.
