Discover What’s On Your Doorstep With Over 100 Events Throughout Wimborne in April

Wimborne Minster kicks off its main events calendar this month with its annual Discover Wimborne festival. Bringing together over 100 activities happening across the town from 1st April, there’s a host of events to enjoy, many free.

You may have lived in Wimborne all your life, but do you know its fascinating history? A guided walking tour around the town by enigmatic author Malcolm Angel will take you on a trip back in time to enjoy tales of smugglers and saints.

Or,  if you’ve always wondered what’s behind the impressive walls of  Deans Court, April is  your chance to visit inside Wimborne’s stately home and discover its beautiful grounds and kitchen garden.

Wimborne’s iconci art deco Tivoli theatre will also be opening its doors for a special behind-the-scenes talk by its manager Charlie North-Lewis who will reveal how the theate was saved and revived.

Or perhaps a food walk would whet your appetite? The team at Salamander Cookshop will take you on a delicious stroll to local artisan shops and producers in town finding to taste some of the wide range of quality foods available in Wimborne.

There are numerous opportunities to enjoy exhibitions and workshops at Walford Mill Crafts Centre and Museum of East Dorset as well as free activities for children throughout the Easter holidays.

If all this doesn’t fill up your diary, there’s competitions and special offers, live music gigs in many of the local pubs, themed food nights, pop-up restaurants, even an April pantomime as Aladdin comes flying in on his magic carpet to find his magic lamp at the Allendale Centre.

And keep your eyes peeled for strange sightings in shop windows! There’s a fabulous window trail throughout April with local businesses placing quirky or historical objects in their windows. Spot them all and you could be in with a chance of winning a  prize!

Wimborne BID manager Tammy Sleet said: “This year’s Discover Wimborne offers a record number of events and activities, testament to the inventiveness and unwavering commitment of businesses to continue to make Wimborne an extraordinary and vibrant place to live and visit.”
